Pioneer Athletics Hall of Fame
Amy Circo turned in one of the the greatest seasons by a Pioneer softball player in school history in helping the 1992 squad capture the NCAC Championship and NCAA Division II West Region title, reach the NCAA Final Four, and ultimately finish as national runner-up. She finished second in the conference in batting average (.392) and doubles (15), helping lead an offense that set single-season school records for runs, hits, home runs, doubles, and stolen bases. She swiped 28 bags that year, which still ranks in the program’s top-10 all-time for career stolen bases. Circo was dominant in the circle, notching a 14-1 record, pitching two no-hitters, and posting the lowest single-season earned run average in Pioneer history (0.84). She led a pitching staff that established program records for victories (49), shutouts (25), ERA (0.91), and strikeouts (233). Circo earned 1992 First Team All-NCAC and First Team All-West Region honors, made the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team, and was selected as First Team All-American.
