Pioneer Athletics Hall of Fame
Trini Sanchez was a standout player for the Cal State Hayward woman’s softball team for three years. In her freshman season, Sanchez was named Northern California Athletic Conference Player of the year, leading the NCAC in hitting with a .508 batting average. The Pioneers captured their first-ever Nor Cal Athletic Conference championship with a 19-1 record and concluded the 1985 season with a 38-16 record. Sanchez held four school records with a .398 season batting average, 44 runs scored in a season, 65 hits in a season, and 23 stolen bases in a season. Sanchez was also a solid performer for the CSUH women’s basketball team, earning second team all-Nor Cal Athletic recognition during the 1985-86 season.
