Pioneer Athletics Hall of Fame
Shirley Dayak served as athletic secretary under CSUH athletic directors Lew Comer and Al Matthews from 1965-91. Dayak was an outstanding employee and friend of the CSUH athletic program. Shirley’s most outstanding attribute was her relationship with the many diverse groups with which she came into contact on a daily basis. Shirley was the first person students saw and spoke to as they entered the athletic office. She was friendly, helpful, supportive, and knowledgeable about the athletic program. To coaches and student athletes, Shirley was the most important person in the athletic office. She was very much a team player and an asset dealing with the faculty and staff in the Physical Education Department and other offices across campus.
