Pioneer Athletics Hall of Fame
Caplan coached the men’s water polo team from 1968-91 and led the Pioneers to a pair of Far Western Conference championships in 1977 and 1981. He guided the Pioneers to a 29-4 record, and a NCAA Small College Championship during the 1975 season. Caplan coached Pioneer Hall of Famers Frank Amdur, Jerry Cvecho, George Osterberg and Kim Bodily. He enjoyed ample success as the diving coach for the Pioneer women’s and men’s swim teams. Under Caplan, the Pioneers produced numerous divers who competed at the National Level including Hall of Famers Lori Stilson and Jana Wilson.
