HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's swim team concluded their 2019 home opening meet with a convincing 97-67 victory over the Mills College Cyclones on Friday afternoon at Pioneer Pool.

On a beautiful day at Pioneer Pool, in front of a great crowd, CSUEB topped Mills College in all 11 events of the dual meet.

The meet started with the 400 Medley Relay, which saw a good battle between East Bay's "A' and "B" squads for the top spot. Ultimately, the foursome of sophomore
Alondra Ortiz, freshman
Rebecca Bay, senior
Abigail Mitchell, and freshman
Morgan Frank touched the wall first in 4:07.40.

Freshman
Leah Robinson won the next -- and longest -- event of the day, the 1000 Free. She posted a time of 11:04.09 to narrowly out-pace juniors
Peyton Wayment and
Sofia Moufarrej.

Sophomore
Isabel Rishwain followed that with an extremely impressive performance to take first place in the 200 Free. She turned in a time of 1:58.96 and out-touched freshman teammate
Morgan Frank by just two seconds.

Junior All-American
Allie Klinger earned a narrow victory in the next race, the 50 Free, out-sprinting freshman newcomer
Tori Padilla in second place. The pair touched the wall in 24.95 and 25.38, respectively.

Serene Augustain and
Landry Walker followed that with a good battle for first place in the 200 IM. Augustain won out by just over a half-second, completing the medley in 2:13.26, with Walker clocking 2:13.89.

Senior
Victoria Zukeran then swam a time of 57.89 to out-pace junior
Sofia Moufarrej in the 100 Butterfly. That was followed by a strong effort from
Serene Augustain to win the 100 Free in 54.37, a second better than senior
Allie Klinger in second.

A trio of Pioneers led the way on the next event, the 100 Back.
Alondra Ortiz took first place with a time of 1:00:84, with
Morgan Frank and
Peyton Wayment close behind in second and third. That was followed by
Landry Walker claiming the top spot in the 500 Free. She finished the distance race in 5:20.80, nine seconds ahead of the runner-up, junior
Maddie Wittkowske.

Tori Padilla notched her first individual victory with a strong performance in the final solo event of the day, the 100 Breast. She touched the wall in 1:10.15, just a couple tenths of a second better than
Rebecca Bay in second place.

The meet wrapped up with the 200 Free Relay. Similar to the first relay, this one ended with a narrow victory for the Pioneer "A" team over the "B" squad. The quarter of
Serene Augustain,
Victoria Zukeran,
Landry Walker, and
Abigail Mitchell secured the win by a second over
Isabel Rishwain,
Allie Klinger,
Peyton Wayment, and
Paige Branson.

East Bay competes next in two weeks up at Mills College in Oakland. They'll race in a four-team dual meet on Friday, Oct. 25, then return the next morning for the annual Bay Area Invitational.
