OAKLAND, Calif.
-- The No. 21 ranked Cal State East Bay swim team had another impressive performance in Friday, earning head-to-head victories over all four opponents in a five-team dual meet at Trefethen Aquatic Center.

The Pioneers topped the host, Mills College, as well as Biola, Soka University of America, and College of Idaho. The closest score of the four matchups was against Biola, but CSUEB still handled its conference rival with relative ease, 127-78.

The meet opened with a victory for the Pioneers in the 200 Medley Relay, as the foursome of Tatum Roepke, Ciera Nasso, Victoria Zukeran, and Allie Klinger finished in 1:51.61, three seconds ahead of Biola in second place. CSUEB's "B" relay also finished fourth in the event.

That was followed by the longest race of the day, the 1000 Free, which saw a dominant effort by the Pioneers. Serene Augustain captured the win in 10:53.35, nine seconds ahead of teammate Peyton Wayment in second place. Senior Maddie Hulse took fifth to give East Bay three of the top five finishers.

They accomplished that feat again in the next race, the 200 Free, although Biola's Emily Silzel earned the victory. Jande Monteon took second place in 2:00.01, out-touching Zukeran by four-tenths of a second. Abigail Mitchell finished fifth as the Pioneers showed off their impressive depth early in the meet.

College of Idaho got its first event win of the day in the 50 Free, but the Pioneers had two swimmers close behind as Vivu Hua earned second-place points in 25.64 and Lauren Ostrander touched the wall third in 26.08.

Klinger out-paced the rest of the field by a wide margin to notch a victory in the next event, the 200 IM. The junior completed all four strokes in 2:09.46, nearly seven seconds better than the second place finisher. Senior Laurel Carpenter scored points as well with a third place finish.

Competing in her third event of the afternoon, Zukeran picked up a decisive win in the 100 Butterfly, touching the wall in 58.69. Sofia Moufarrej earned fifth-place points for the Pioneers with a time of 1:02.52.

That was followed by the 100 Free, in which the trio of Monteon, Roepke, and Hulse finished third, fourth, and fifth, respectively. It was the first race of the day without a Pioneer in the top two finishers, but they nonetheless added to their point total.

In the 100 Back, Biola's Nicole Chang narrowly defeated Hua for first place. The senior settled for a runner-up finish in 1:01.11, just ahead of teammate Miranda McDonnell in third.

Augustain followed that by making it 2-for-2 in the distance races, as the sophomore earned her second victory of the day on the strength of a 5:12.66 time in the 500 Free. Wayment placed third in the event, followed closely by Landry Walker in fourth.

The Pioneers had another strong showing in the next race, the 100 Breast. Freshman Rebecca Bay earned a win by almost a full second over Biola's top two breaststrokers, finishing in 1:10.54. Nasso, a fellow rookie, took fourth place, with Carpenter close behind her in fifth.

The meet concluded with another impressive relay effort for CSUEB. Klinger, Hua, Monteon, and Augustain were victorious in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:39.64, winning by more than two seconds. East Bay's "B" and "C" teams placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Pioneers will be back in action Saturday morning in the same pool against mostly the same set of opponents for the annual Bay Area Invitational, starting at 10 a.m.
