Results: Occidental Distance Carnival | UC Davis Aggie Open
DAVIS, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay men's track and field team had another productive day in its third meet of the season, turning in several strong performances at the UC Davis Aggie Open.
Two members of CSUEB's squad, distance runners
Chris Lessard and
Pedro Cruz, did not run at Davis. Instead they traveled to the Occidental Distance Carnival to compete on Friday evening against some of the top runners in the West across all divisions.
Lessard was extremely impressive in securing a CCAA Championship qualifying time in the 1500m. He finished second in his heat and 10th overall with a personal best time of 3:57.09.
Cruz's time in the 5000m is incorrect in the results, as his timing system experienced an error. But the freshman had a solid race, finishing in 14:54 to place in the top 30 overall.
Back up in Davis on Saturday,
Alberto Venegas continued to make strides in the 800m. He improved his time from last week by nearly a full second, placing fifth in 1:57.68.
The rest of the Pioneer men competed in the 3000m, with
Esteban Leon leading the way. The sophomore finished fourth overall, completing the 3k in 8:54.75. Leon was followed by
Israel Sotelo in eighth (9:07.35),
Deion Molina in 10th (9:26.64),
Zach Kanlong in 11th (9:29.16),
Kyle Fetter in 12th (9:29.97),
