CHICO – Cal State East Bay turned in a strong set of individual performances at the Chico Invitational, highlighted by a first-place finish and multiple scoring efforts across the track and field events.
Mailk Hensley-Prince led the way for the Pioneers with an impressive showing in the 100 meters, capturing the event title in 10.69 after posting a meet-best 10.64 in the prelims. He continued his weekend in the 200 meters, adding a sixth-place finish with a time of 22.14.
East Bay saw additional contributions in the sprint events from Che Jimenez and Emmanuel Cortes. Jimenez placed seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 50.83 and also competed in the 200 meters, finishing 15th in 22.82. Cortes added a ninth-place finish in the 400 meters, crossing the line in 51.50.
In the hurdles, Brevan Rohde delivered one of the team's top finishes on the track, taking fourth overall in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.73.
The middle-distance group was represented by Dylan Baptista in the 1500 meters, where he placed 10th overall in a time of 4:17.19 against a competitive field.
East Bay also competed in the field events, with Amier Hollis leading the way in the long jump. Hollis recorded a mark of 6.34 meters to place eighth overall.
