FRESNO, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay swim team fell on the road to Division I squad Fresno State by a score of 144-117 on Saturday in the final dual meet of the 2016-17 regular season.
It was a tight battle, as the Pioneers won five of the 12 individual races and one of the two relays, but the Bulldogs captured the majority of the events to seal the win in their home pool.Â
CSUEB was in a hole early after scoring just two points in the opening event, the 400 Medley Relay. The Pioneers placed third after Fresno State's "B" team out-touched East Bay's quartet of

The Pioneers finished the meet on a high note with three straight victories to close out the day. With the regular season schedule completed, CSUEB will now turn its attention to the 2016-17 Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships, which begin Feb. 8 at East Los Angeles College. This year's field is perhaps the conference's toughest to date, as the Pioneers will have to take on nationally ranked teams UC San Diego and Fresno Pacific, as well as Div. I squads Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine.Â
