HAYWARD, Calif. -- The start of the 2017 baseball season is just three short weeks away, and Cal State East Bay is kicking off the spring with the annual alumni game, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 28 with first pitch at 1 p.m.

All Pioneer alumni are invited to attend and participate. Following the game, CSUEB will host a social in Room 201 of Pioneer Gymnasium, starting at 5 p.m. during the basketball games. Cost for the social is $20 (kids 12 and under are free), which includes food, drinks, and VIP admission to the Pioneer basketball games against Cal Poly Pomona. 

Fans will get their first look at the 2017 squad as they take on a strong group of alumni that will include several members of last year's record-setting team, led by CCAA Most Valuable Player Rudy Navarro.

East Bay is coming off a 2016 season in which they broke the school record for victories, claimed a share of the CCAA North Division crown, and qualified for the NCAA West Regionals for the first time in 39 years. As this year's team navigates what has been a rainy preseason, the alumni game will be be their first live action under new interim head coach Mike Cummins.

10:15 am – Alumni players may pick up uniforms field house
11:30 am – Alumni batting practice
12:30 pm – Alumni pre-game infield/outfield
1:00 pm – First pitch
5:00 pm – Post-game social for alumni, family & friends ($20 per person)
5:30 pm – Women's basketball game vs. Cal Poly Pomona
6:00 pm (Halftime) – Introduction of 2017 Pioneer baseball team
7:30 pm – Men's basketball game vs. Cal Poly Pomona
