HAYWARD -
With wins in 10 individual races and one relay, the Cal State East Bay swim team posted a 169-105 victory over Azusa Pacific on Saturday at Pioneer Pool. The Pioneers, led by three wins from Alyssa Tenney, notched their eighth dual meet victory in their final meet against a conference opponent this season.

"On paper Azusa looks like a team that should have the advantage over us in a dual meet, but our team came out again and were ready to swim and ready to win," Head Coach Ben Loorz said. "Alyssa had a great day with three wins and new school record, Courtney took both breaststroke events and we just had a really good meet all around."

Tenney set the standard for the Pioneers, picking up wins in the 50 free, 200 back and 400 IM. In the IM, Tenney  touched the wall in 4:42.28, breaking her own school record in the event by nearly two seconds. Meanwhile, Tenney made a rare appearance in the 50 free, beating out Azusa's Quinn Robertson with a teim of 24.77. In the 200 back, Tenney posted a three-second win over teammate Bethany Hoopman

Courtney Schwiesow and Jenel Lopez were double winners for East Bay. Lopez first led a Pioneer sweep of the top three in the 200 freestyle, beating out teammates Karly Wasung and Hannah Cutts, who placed second and third, respectively. Lopez was at it again in the 100 free, topping Erica Crain by just over a second with her 53.45 performance. Schwiesow swept the 100 and 200 breaststroke for East Bay, just out-touching teammate Makila Schuck by less than eight-tenths of a second in the 100 to finish in 1:09.15. Later, the Moses Lake, Wash., native beat out Schuck again in the 200 to give the Pioneers a one-two finish in both races.

Hoopman, who grabbed the runner up finish in the 200 back, also took first in the 100 back, where she claimed a four-second victory over Azusa. Teammates Kameron Isaacs and Alyssa Littlefield finished third and fourth to give East Bay three in the top four in the 100 back. Other individual winners included Brittany Rojo in the 200 butterfly and Erican Crain in the 100 fly. Rojo grabbed a runner up finish behind Crain in the 100 fly and Crain also added a second-place showing in the 100 free and a third-place finish in the 50 free.

The Cougars' Mikaela Fuller posted their two wins in the distance freestyle events. In the 1,000 free, Fuller posted a 10:55.11 to top Hannah Cutts and Rachel Shimizu, who claimed second and third, respectively. In the 500, Shimizu was the runner up, while Cutts placed fourth. Rachel Knowles also helped the Pioneers, scoring eight points with a pair of runner up finishes in the 200 fly and the 400 IM.

In the relays, the Pioneers swept the top two spots in the 200 medley relay, with the team of Tenney, Knowles, Caitlin DeNise and Lopez taking first with a time of 1:51.10. East Bay's second-place team of Hoopman, Schuck, Rojo and Isaacs grabbed East Bay another four points for the Pioneers.
