FAIRBANKS, Alaska -
For the second straight day, the Cal State East Bay swim team topped Alaska Fairbanks, picking up a 111-93 victory over the Nanooks to extend its meet win streak to five. The Pioneers won five individual races and posted three one-two finishes in the victory despite losing both relays for the second time this weekend.

Matching her performance from Friday, Alyssa Tenney won the 200 backstroke and the 400 IM. Joining Tenney as individual winners were Jenel Lopez, Makila Schuck and Rachel Shimizu, another two-day winner this weekend. Tenney and Bethany Hoopman posted a one-two finish in the 200 back, while Tenney claimed a three-second victory in the IM.

Lopez grabbed the 200 freestyle, topping teammate Karly Wasung by just over a second to give East Bay one of its three one-two finishes. Wasung also claimed one of the Pioneers' seven runner-up finishes on the day. Shimizu added her third win of the weekend in the 1650 freestyle, finishing the two meets with three wins in the four distance freesytle events.

Schuck got redemption in the breastroke, beating out teammates Rachel Knowles and Courtney Schwiesow in the 200 after failing to Schwiesow in the 100 on Friday. Schuck and Knowles teamed up for another one-two finish for East Bay, with Schuck out-touching Knowles by just five-hundreths of a second. The pair also helped the Pioneers score in the 200 butterfly, which saw the Nanooks' Margot Adams set a new pool record with a time of 2:08.15. Knowles and Schuck finished in second and third, respectively, behind Adams.

Hannah Cutts and Shimizu also added points for East Bay in the 500 free, taking second and third, respectively, while Lopez, Wasung and Kameron Isaacs gave the Pioneers a two-three-four showing in the 100 free. In her only individual race of the day, Caitlin DeNise grabbed a runner-up finish in the 50 free, combining with Isaacs and Alyssa Littlefield to give East Bay another two-three-four finish.

For the second day, the Nanooks took first in both relays, this time claiming the meet-opening 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay finale.

Cal State East Bay will now take a three-week break from competition before returning to action at Nevada. The Pioneers and Wolfpack are set to face off in dual meet action on Dec. 1 in Reno.
