The Cal State East Bay women's swimming team opened the 2026-27 season with a strong showing, earning a 167-95 victory over Westmont College.

The Pioneers put together a balanced performance throughout the meet, highlighted by strong relay swims and nine individual event victories from five different swimmers.

Freshman Alyssa Corkery made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut, earning a pair of individual wins. Corkery took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.88 before adding another victory in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in 2:12.54.

Fellow freshman Jaydah Godbolt also collected two individual victories. Godbolt touched the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.98 and followed with a winning time of 1:00.24 in the 100-yard backstroke.

Alexia Fajardo added to the Pioneers' strong showing with a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 55.04. Sophomore Malana Kollath also earned an individual victory, winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:19.41.

Senior Tehani Kong led East Bay with three individual first-place finishes. Kong won the 50-yard backstroke in 27.15, the 100-yard butterfly in 57.66 and the 50-yard butterfly in 25.85 to highlight the Pioneers' individual performances.

"Fantastic effort from this team for our first dual meet of the season. Great performances in the relays and solid swims in all individuals. Proud of the consistent effort and team support they had through the entire meet," said Coach Beaty.

The Pioneers will look to build on their season-opening victory as they continue the 2026-27 campaign.
