Clemens Claims All-American Honors on Day 2 of NCAA Swimming Championships

EVANSVILLE, Indiana – Freshman Maggie Clemens earned Second Team All-American honors with a 14th place finish in the 1000 freestyle as five members of Cal State East Bay swimming competed at the 2026 NCAA Division II Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. 
 
Clemens delivered East Bay's top performance of the championships, finishing 14th in the nation with a time of 10:12.87 to earn three team points for the Pioneers. Clemens maintained a steady pace throughout the distance race, closing strong over the final 200 yards to secure a scoring position in a deep national field.
 
Fellow freshman Malana Kollath also represented East Bay in the 1000 freestyle, finishing 25th overall in 10:23.30.
 
Senior Kylie Beaudet competed in the 200-yard individual medley, touching the wall in 2:04.80 to place 24th overall in the preliminary heats. Beaudet opened the race with a 27.18 butterfly split and moved through the backstroke and breaststroke legs before finishing with a 30.23 freestyle split to cap her final NCAA appearance.
 
East Bay also saw sprint action from junior Tehani Kong in the 50-yard freestyle, where she posted a time of 23.46 seconds to finish 27th in the nation in a tightly contested event separated by fractions of a second.
 
The Pioneers also competed in relay action in the 200-yard medley relay, where the team of Kong, Beaudet, Alexia Fajardo, and Clemens posted a time of 1:45.76 to place 17th overall. Kong opened the race with a 25.40 backstroke split which would break a school record at that distance.  Beaudet followed on the breaststroke leg, Fajardo handled the butterfly, and Clemens anchored the relay in freestyle.
