MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – Cal State East Bay continued its dominant run at the 2026 PCSC Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday at ELAC Swim Stadium, extending its team lead to more than 100 points over second‑place UC Santa Cruz through three days of competition. Day three featured multiple gold and silver performances for the Pioneers, highlighted by top-two podium finishes in the 500‑yard freestyle and a commanding win to close the night in the 200‑yard medley relay.
For the second time this week, Maggie Clemens and Malana Kollath finished first (gold) and second (silver) in a distance freestyle event. After duplicating their 1,000‑yard results from Wednesday, Clemens touched first in the 500‑yard freestyle in 4 minutes, 57.58 seconds, with Kollath close behind at 4:58.86.
The Pioneers' momentum continued as Rae Ann Dressel earned second place (silver) in the 100‑yard breaststroke, clocking 1:03.01 in a strong performance that bolstered East Bay's point total.
East Bay then swept the top two spots again—this time in the 200‑yard butterfly—where Alexia Fajardo claimed first (gold) in 2:02.92. Tehani Kong followed in second (silver), touching in 2:03.57 to complete another one‑two finish for the Pioneers.
The night ended with another championship moment: a first-place (gold) finish in the 200‑yard medley relay. The quartet of Lily Caraway, Dressel, Kong and Amaya Rocheleau surged to the wall in 1:43.15, closing the session with a dominant relay victory.
Cal State East Bay returns to ELAC Swim Stadium on Saturday for the final day of the 2026 PCSC Swimming and Diving Championships. After coming up just short in last year's team point total, the Pioneers enter the closing day with a substantial lead and will aim to finish like their 2024 championship squad as they look to reclaim conference glory.
