HAYWARD, Calif. — Cal State East Bay
Tehani Kong has been named PCSC Female Swimmer of the Week after a standout two-meet stretch that showcased her sprint speed and consistency against both Division I and Division II competition.
Kong delivered a commanding performance for the Pioneers, excelling across multiple events in back-to-back meets against UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz.
At UC Davis, Kong shined against a talented Division I field, winning the 100 Butterfly in 54.58 — the top time in the PCSC this season — and placing fourth in the 50 Freestyle (23.81), another conference-leading mark.
She carried that momentum into the following day's dual meet at UC Santa Cruz, where she swept her individual events, capturing the 50 Freestyle (24.02) and 100 Butterfly (55.28) while leading the Pioneers to a dominant team victory.
Kong also played a crucial role on both of East Bay's winning relays, helping the 400 Medley Relay (3:49.91) post the fastest time in the PCSC this season and anchoring the 200 Freestyle Relay (1:36.53), which ranks second in the conference.
Kong and the Pioneers will return to the pool on November 21 when they head to Monterey for the La Verne Winter Invitational.
