Cal State East Bay head coach
Shane Pelton following Wednesday's action:
"It's always great to get off to a nice start and today we did just that. Both Kylie and Brooklyn raced incredibly well. Brooklyn's morning swim was a little off from what we wanted, but she made it back for her first swim at night at the NCAA Championship and did not disappoint! She put together a phenomenal swim to go under 23 seconds for just the 2nd time in her career."
Pelton added:
"Kylie raced phenomenal. Coming into the biggest meet of her young swimming career isn't easy, but to be able to repeat a similar time to your lifetime best in this environment bodes incredibly well for her [200 IM] and for years to come. I am already incredibly proud, but extremely excited to see what she can do tomorrow in her best race!"
Through only one day of action for Cal State East Bay, the Pioneers have already eclipsed last year's team point total for the meet with seven in 2023. In 2022 for the same meet, the Pioneers finished with six.
Both Beaudet and Dressel return to the pool on Thursday for their respective individual events. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. EST. Beaudet will compete in the 400 yard individual medley and Dressel will compete in the 200 yard freestyle.
