INDIANAPOLIS - The final day of the 2023 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships took place at IU Natatorium Saturday. Cal State East Bay women's swimming finished 21st in the team scoring among 39 teams, but exited the meet with a pair of top-10 finishes on Saturday to wrap up the 2022-23 season.
Brooklyn Dressel competed in her third individual event of the meet. In the 100 yard freestyle, she placed 10th in the event, with a finals time of 50.29 seconds, which broke the individual Pioneer record. Her 10th place finish was her second of the meet, as she also placed 10th in the 50 yard freestyle earlier in the week.
Later in the meet, Dressel was part of the 400 yard freestyle relay team that also finished in 10th place. The team included Dressel,
Delaney Carlson,
Jacqueline Feurtado and
Olivia Parham. The 10th place performance was completed in 3:24.08. Dressel's segment of the relay, 50.21 seconds, broke her previous 100 yard freestyle time achieved earlier in the day. The relay time as a whole was the second fastest in program history.
Winning the point total for the NCAA Division II Women's Swimming Championship was Nova Southeastern.
The 2022-23 season has concluded for Cal State East Bay, which was the seventh under the direction of head coach
Shane Pelton.
