Overview

Cal State East Bay hosts Cal State Dominguez Hills in a four game CCAA series. The Pioneers split their last CCAA series 2-2 against Cal State L.A. in Los Angeles while the Toros lost their series 3-1 against No. 17 Cal State Monterey Bay in Carson.  

History

The Pioneers have won have five out of the last eight in the series dating back to 2018.

Matthew O'Mahony – The sophomore from San Bruno, California is averaging .306 and tied on the team for second in hits (41) and second in home runs (3).

Ethan Brodsky – The sophomore from Mission Viejo, California has a 3.51 ERA in seven appearances this season.

Manny Garcia – The sophomore from San Lorenzo, California is averaging .328 and is third on the team in runs scored (27) and tied for second in doubles (5).

Last Series

On Thursday, the Pioneers scored four runs in the top of the second inning and won 7-3. On Friday, in game one, both teams' offenses exploded for a combined 29 runs and 29 hits but in the end, it was the Golden Eagles that prevailed 16-13. In game two, the Pioneers scored one run but the Golden Eagles won 3-1. On Saturday, the Pioneers scored five runs in the top of the third inning en route to an 8-4 victory as both teams split the series. During the series, Essex Brown, Jr. tied the program record for stolen bases in a season with 29 in a season and only needs one stolen base to set a new program record. 

Around the CCAA

The Pioneers are .035 behind Sonoma State for the final playoff spot in the CCAA Baseball Championship. The Seawolves will take on Cal State Los Angeles in Sonoma this weekend. CSU Monterey Bay leads the CCAA by .071 over Chico State.
