Overview

The Cal State East Bay baseball team travels to Los Angeles for a four game CCAA series against Cal State L.A. The Pioneers won their last CCAA series 3-1 over Cal State San Marcos in Hayward last weekend while the Golden Eagles lost all four games of their CCAA series with CSU Monterey Bay in Seaside. The Pioneers enter the series tied for the sixth place in the CCAA.

Essex Brown Jr. – The junior from Sacramento, California is averaging .331 on the season and leads the team in hits with 39 and triples with four. He also leads the CCAA in stolen bases with 25 on the season. 

Jackson Ellis – The freshman pitcher from Union City, California leads the team in ERA with a 2.40 in eight appearances,

Luke Novitske – The freshman from Pleasanton, California leads the team in batting average at .353 and fourth on the team in RBI with 17.

Last Series

On Friday, the Pioneers scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh in a 9-4 victory over the Cal State San Marcos. On Saturday, the Pioneers split the doubleheader with the Cougars winning 8-6 in the first game and losing 6-1 in the second game. On Sunday, the Pioneers took the series three games to one with a 5-2 win over CSUSM.

Around the CCAA

The Pioneers are currently tied with Sonoma State for the final playoff spot in the CCAA Baseball Championship at 10-14 in conference play. The Seawolves will take on Cal State San Marcos in San Marcos. Cal State Monterey Bay leads the CCAA by a .045 winning percentage over No. 13 Chico State.
