GREENSBORO, N.C. — Cal State East Bay freshman
Brooklyn Dressel competed in the 50-yard freestyle preliminaries on Wednesday morning on Day 1 of the 2022 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at Greensboro Aquatics Center.
Dressel posted a prelim time of 23.94-seconds to place 41st overall in the event.
A native of Wenatchee, Wash., Dressel will continue action later this weekend in the 100 freestyle on Saturday, March 12, set to begin a little after 3 p.m. PT.
"The expectation (for Dressel) is to continue to race hard, gain experience, and get faster with every swim," said East Bay head coach
Shane Pelton. "Brooklyn has only been with us for a few short months and we are still learning. This will be another great learning experience that will propel us and the team into seasons to come."
East Bay will conclude the weekend with the 400 freestyle relay team that includes Dressel,
Delaney Carlson,
Jacqueline Feurtado and
Olivia Parham will be in action on Saturday night in the second to last event of the championship weekend.
"I'm really excited for this group to have an opportunity to be here in North Carolina this week," said Pelton We're a young team, and to be able to compete at the National Championship is huge for growth and expectations for the program moving forward.
