HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay baseball team is set to resume action with a four-game series this week against Holy Names, with the Pioneers hosting contests on Thursday, Feb. 10 and Friday, Feb. 11, with both games being held at Pioneer Field beginning at 2 p.m.
Both contests will be streamed live on CCAA Network, and live stats will be available.
In addition, CSUEB will play a doubleheader against on the Hawks on Saturday, Feb. 12 at College of Alameda Baseball Field.
Cal State East Bay (2-1) is coming off a series win over Academy of Art during its season-opening weekend, as the Pioneers earned victories of 4-0 and 6-4, before dropping the series finale, 9-5.
Sophomore
Matthew O'Mahony hit his first home run in a Pioneer uniform, while sophomore ace
Ethan Brodsky threw five shutout innings allowing four hits while striking out six for East Bay's first win of the season on Feb. 4.
Junior
Ryan Maciel went 2-for-4 with two RBI, and starting pitcher
Mark Woinarowicz allowed just one earned run while striking out eight over six innings to lead the Pioneers to a 6-4 win in Game 1 on Feb. 5. CSUEB fell behind 7-0 in the top half of the fourth of Game 2, but scored one run in the bottom half, one in the fifth and three runs in the sixth before its comeback fell short.
Maciel is 4-for-12 on the season with a double, two RBI and a run scored, while freshman
Jacob Klinovsky has a team-high four runs scored.
CSUEB was picked to finish seventh in the 2022 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Preseason Coaches Poll on Jan. 26.
