MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - The 2022 La Verne Winter Invite wrapped up on Sunday, and effectively, the fall season for the Cal State East Bay concluded. The Pioneers finished the fall season strong by placing second in team points, and first among NCAA Division II programs. There were two individual first place finishes and multiple personal records broken.
Below are some highlights from Saturday's action for the Pioneers.
- The most notable performance for Cal State East Bay on Sunday was from Brooklyn Dressel. She placed first in the 100 yard freestyle in 50.80 seconds, which not only is a new personal record for her, but it meets the latest NCAA Division II 'B' Standard for championship qualifying in 2023.
- Achieving a personal best time in the 1,650 yard freestyle was Miya French, who's sixth place finish was completed in 17:47.55.
- Tori Padilla broke her own personal record in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:00.54.
- In the 200 yard butterfly, Justine Garcia swam a personal best time of 209.21 in her preliminary heat to qualify for the finals.
- The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Dressel, Olivia Parham, Jacqueline Feurtado and Delaney Carlson finished second with a time of 3:26.14.
While the Pioneers placed second in team scoring, San Diego was the top team in points to win the meet.

With the 2022 fall season concluding, the next meet for the Pioneers will be in 2023. On Thursday, January 5, 2023, Cal State East Bay and San Diego State will swim in a dual meet from Aztec Aquaplex with a start time of 10 a.m.
