East Bay Swim Stays Sharp Against Fresno Pacific, The Masters University

FRESNO, Calif. —
The Cal State East Bay swim team continued to build toward its upcoming conference championships with another good performance Saturday afternoon against Fresno Pacific and The Masters University.

With an eye toward the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference (PCSC) Championships looming Feb. 16 in St. George, Utah, the Pioneers were sharp in Saturday's road dual meet while winning several events.

The East Bay 400-yard medley relay squad of senior Alondra Ortiz, junior Tori Padilla, sophomore Olivia Parham and senior Isabel Rishwain started the day strong with a first-place finish behind a time of 4-minutes, 0.65-seconds, while the Pioneers' 200 freestyle relay team of freshman Delaney Carlson, junior Nani Welsh, junior Jacqueline Feurtado and Parham closed the day by winning with a time of 1:40.02.

Senior Peyton Wayment earned a victory in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:07.46, senior Maddie Wittkowske took first in the 200 free in 1:54.14, Ortiz notched another top finish in the 100 backstroke (59.64) and freshman Caroline Rous had the top tie in the 200 butterfly (2:11.48).

Freshman Brooklyn Dressel was the top finisher in the 50 free behind a time of 24.59, Carlson placed first in the 100 free (55.72), Padilla earned the top spot in the 200 breast (2:30.35), Rishwain edged out a victory in the 500 free (5:16.37), freshman Emma Knott garnered a win in the 100 fly (58.20), while freshman Allysa Dudley finished first in the 400 IM after posting a time of 4:41.76.

CSUEB will now use the next two and a half weeks to gear up to compete for its third PCSC title in the past four calendar years.
