HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay baseball team will now get their turn to compete in the "Battle of the Bays" rivalry against Cal State Monterey Bay Otters with a four-game home and away series March 6-8.

The Pioneers will open the series hosting the Otters with a single game on Friday with first pitch at 2:00 p.m., before their scheduled series doubleheader Saturday in Seaside at the CSUMB Baseball Complex before wrapping up the series with a Sunday finale at Pioneer Field at 11:00 a.m.

East Bay is off to an 11-5 start to the season with a 7-5 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) after going 1-3 in their weekend road series against Chico State last week.

- The Pioneers are off to a 11-5 start to the season for the first time in program history.
- Ethan Brodsky and Samuel Esparza swept CCAA Player of the Week Awards for Feb. 10-16.

- Ryan McSwain is 7th CCAA with three home runs and he is 2nd on the team with a .537 slugging percentage.
- McSwain is batting .313 and is 2nd on the team with 14 runs scored to go with 11 RBI.
- Francisco Pedraza is 6th in the CCAA with a team-leading five steals in five attempts.
- Ethan Brodsky leads the Pioneers with 25 strikeouts including eight batters struck out looking, 10th most in the conference.
- Kyle Basch leads CSUEB with a 0.00 ERA through four appearances and 5.2 innings tossed.
- Brian Martinez and Dylan Dudley both are tied for 2nd on the Pios with 18 strikeouts each.
- Ransome Alexander has compiled 19 strikeouts with three wins and a 3.92 ERA.
- Ryan Robinson, Garrison Finck, Tristin Tatum have all tallied one win each.
- Brothers Mark Woinarowicz and Matt Woinarowicz have recorded the Pioneers lone two saves of the season.Â

SCOUTING CAL STATE MONTEREY BAY
The Cal State Monterey Bay Otters come into the "Bay Bridge Series" against East Bay carrying an 9-9 overall record with a 6-6 showing in CCAA action after going 3-1 in their weekend road series against #20 Stanislaus State. Miguel Brady leads the Otters with a .377 batting average, 26 hits, 17 runs scored to go with seven RBI and one home run. Greg Steinback is tops in the Monterey Bay pitching staff with 20 strikeouts to go along with a 2-0 record and a 4.05 ERA through 26.2 innings pitched.
