HAYWARD, Calif., -- The first-place Cal State East Bay baseball team will hit the road for a four-game California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series against Chico State February 28-Mar. 1 at Nettleton Field.

The Pioneers and Wildcats will open play with a single game on Friday with first pitch at 2:00, before their scheduled series doubleheader of Saturday, February 29 before wrapping up the series with Sunday morning finale at 11:00 a.m.

East Bay is off to a 10-2 start to the season with a 6-2 mark in CCAA play after picking up a 2-2 split against a then ranked, No. 19 Stanislaus State ball club during their Homecoming Series last week.

- The Pioneers are off to a 10-2 start to the season for the first time in program history.
- Ethan Brodsky and Samuel Esparza swept CCAA Player of the Week Awards for Feb. 10-16.

- Ryan McSwain is 6th CCAA with three home runs and he is 2nd on the team with a .509 slugging percentage.
- McSwain is batting .382 and is 4th on the team with 11 runs scored to go with 10 RBI.
- Francisco Pedraza is 6th in the CCAA with a team-leading five steals.
- Brodsky is 7th in the CCAA with a 24 strikeouts including eight batters struck out looking, 6th in the conference.
- Mark Woinarowicz leads CSUEB with a 0.73 ERA, 3rd best in the league and two wins.
- Brian Martinez has 14 strikeouts on the season with a 2.75 ERA through a team-high 19.2 innings tossed to go along with a 2-0 record.
- Ransome Alexander has compiled 17 strikeouts with two wins and a 4.02 ERA.
- Ryan Robinson, Garrison Finck, Tristin Tatum have all tallied one win each.
- Matt Woinarowicz has recording the Pioneers lone save of the season.

SCOUTING CHICO STATE
The Chico State Wildcats enter their matchup with East Bay carrying a 9-5 overall record and a 5-3 mark in CCAA action after splitting their series 2-2 against Cal State Monterey Bay last week. Eddie Zavala leads the Wildcats with a .467 batting average to go with 21 hits, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored. Grant Larson is tops in the Chico State pitching rotation with a 3-0 record on the mound and 24 strikeouts.
