HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay men's track & field team put forth a strong performance during the 5ht Annual East Bay Invitational Friday and Saturday afternoon, April 13-14 at Chabot College Track.
Junior
Esteban Leon (Oxnard, Calif.) provided the highlight of Saturday's schedule for East Bay, taking first place in the 10000m event to notch the lone event victory of the meet for the host team. He finished with a time of 33:04.73.
Zach Kanlong (Twentnine Palms, Calif.) paced the Pioneers wit a ninth place finish in the 1500m event in a time of 4:10.03. He was followed by
Luke Calubayan (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) who placed 18th in the event at a time of 4:17.59.
Ronaldo Flores (Port Hueneme, Calif.) and
Luke Laehy (Temecula, Calif.) complied back-to-back finishes in the 1500m event with times of 4:26.59 and 4:27.31, good for 30th and 31st place.
The 4x100m Relay team of
Ben Reiter (Pleasant Hill, Calif.),
Keith Moreno (Maywood, Calif.),
Argenis Torres (Patterson, Calif.) and
Jared Johnson (Los Altos, Calif.) placed fourth in the event in a time of 52.47.
Individually
Jeremy Shaw (Milpitas, Calif.) registered a ninth place finish in the 800m run with a time of 1:58.40.
Israel Sotelo (Porterville, Calif.) crossed the line in 15th place at 2:01.29.
In the 4x400m Relay event, CSUEB put together a team of

Ronaldo Flores,
Jared Johnson that placed ninth in a time of 3:38.94.
In the field events,
Pedro Cruz compiled a fifth place finish in the men's Javelin event with a toss of 18.33m.
Kyle Fetter leaped a distance of 4.76m in the Long Jump event, good for 14th place.
The Pioneers men's track & field team will travel to Torrance, Calif. for the Mt. Sac Relays at El Camino College starting Wednesday April 18 through Saturday April 21.
