SAN FRANCISCO -- The Cal State East Bay women's track competed well on Friday and Saturday during the annual San Francisco State Distance Carnival at Cox Stadium against a deep and talented fields of teams.
Junior
Dana Pollard had a strong performance in the 10,000 meters to lead the Pioneers, posting a personal best time of 39:32.96. She finished 49th in the event, and her time currently ranks ninth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
Senior
Sarah Perrin fell a bit short of a PR in the 1500, crossing the tape in 4:45.67 to place 61st overall.
Katherine Embody also ran the 1500, taking 115th in 5:10.78.
The Pioneers had a pair of runners in the 5,000 meters, with
Cecilia Carretero leading the way in 18:34.76. She placed 18th in the event, just ahead of
Megan Satterfield in 137th with a time of 19:16.54.
Taryn Stevenson took 23rd place in the 2-Mile with a time of 12:5`.57 to round out East Bay's weekend in the distance events.
Brittney Duquette was CSUEB's lone sprinter to compete at the Distance Carnival. She finished 26th in the 400 meters in 1:01.25, then notched a 39th place overall finish in the 200 meters with a time of 27.84.
The Pioneers have just two meets remaining on the schedule before CCAA Championships the first week in May, starting next Friday and Saturday at the Chico State Distance Carnival.
