TURLOCK, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay women's track and field team had a number of strong performances in sprint and distance events on Saturday at the Kim Duyst Invitational hosted by Stanislaus State.
The Pioneers posted several California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) championship qualifying times in their second meet of the season.
In the spring events,
Imani Blincoe represented East Bay with string showings in the 100 and 200 meters. She ran the 100m prelims in a time of 12.87, putting her in 16th place overall. Blincoe had the 11th fastest time in the 200m, crossing the tape in 26.42.
Brittany Duquette also ran the 200m, taking 27th place in 28.48. The sophomore followed that up with by running an excellent race in the 400m. She placed second in her heat and seventh overall with a time of 1:01.97
The 800m was a particularly spring event for the Pioneers on this day, as their middle distance runners shined.
Kandace Compton posted a CCAA championship qualifying time and took fourth place overall in 2:19.22 to lead the way.
Sarah Perrin was close behind, finishing seventh in 2:22.27.
Katherine Embody placed second in her heat and 12th overall with a time of 2:26.47.
Finally, CSUEB entered a quartet of runners in the 1500m.
Cecilia Carretero paced the group with a sixth place finish in 4:56.46. She was followed closely by
Dana Pollard (4:59.61) in 11th and
Megan Satterfield (5:59.70) in 12th.
Taryn Stevenson rounded out the event with a time of 5:30.98.
The Pioneers' personal best times continue to drop across the board in the early part of the spring as the team gears towards preparing for championships in a couple months.
East Bay will return to the track next week to compete against a strong field at the annual UC Davis Aggie Open on Saturday, Mar. 11.
