SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Cal State East bay women's track and field team competed against a tough field of Division opponents on Saturday at Sacramento State's annual Hornet Invitational.
Two Pioneer runners represented the distance team in the 1500 meters. Senior
Sarah Perrin led the way with a personal best time of 4:44.17. She placed third in her heat, 28th overall, and now ranks among the top 20 runners in the CCAA this season.
Katherine Embody ran a PR as well, finishing the 1500 in 4:53.00 to take 36th place in the overall field.
Imanie Blincoe had a busy day for the Pioneers, competing in three events. She ran a personal best in the 100 meters to take third place in her heat and 26th overall. Blincoe's time of 12.67 ranks her 21st in the conference this season.
She's just outside the top 25 in the 200 meters after running 26.59 and placing 38th overall on Saturday. Finally, Blincoe competed in the Long Jump and took 33rd place with a distance of 14 feet, 10 inches (4.52m).
Sprinters
Jasmine Starks and
Brittney Duquette both raced in the 200 and 400 meter dashes. Starks, who ranks 15th in the CCAA in the 400, ran 1:00.04 at Sac State to place 30th overall. She took 34th place in the 200, crossing the tape in 26.50.
Duquette ran the 200 in 28.23 to place 62nd. She turned in a time of 1:03.83 in the 400 to notch a 46th place finish.
Next up, the Pioneer women will compete across the Bay at the annual SF State Distance Carnival on Mar. 31-Apr. 1.
