Pioneer Baseball Announces 2018 Alumni Weekend

12/8/2017 3:04:00 PM

HAYWARD, Calif. -- Cal State East Bay head baseball coach Mike Cummins has announced the schedule of festivities for the team's upcoming 2018 Alumni Weekend, taking place Feb. 16-17.

Pioneer Baseball is expanding its alumni event this year to include the Jake Walter Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, Feb. 16 at Redwood Canyon Golf Course in Castro Valley. The tournament is formatted as a four-person scramble with an entry fee of $95 per person, which includes lunch, a cart, and a CSUEB Baseball polo shirt. Tee times start at 11:30 a.m. The event is named in honor of former Pioneer baseball player and Oakland firefighter Jake Walter ('10), who was killed in August.

East Bay will hold its annual alumni baseball game the next day, Saturday, Feb. 17, at Pioneer Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., and alumni participants can pick up gear starting at 10:00 a.m.

The game will be followed that evening by the team's fundraiser dinner, held at Crow Canyon Country Club in Danville. The event will begin with hosted cocktail hour from 6:00-7:00 p.m., followed by dinner, player introductions, and a guest speaker. The evening will also include a silent auction, drawing, and live auction items with all proceeds benefiting the baseball program. Tickers for the dinner cost $60 per person, and limited seating is available.
