LOS ANGELES -- The Cal State East Bay women's track and field team finished in 11th place this week at the 2016 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships, hosted by Cal State L.A. at Jesse Owens Track.

Senior Suzanne Bateson highlighted Saturday's events, scoring the team's four points with a fifth place finish in the 400 meters. She qualified eighth with a time of 58.50, then nearly matched it in the finals with a time of 58.51. It's the first time Bateson has scored points for the Pioneers at CCAA Championships, capping off a standout 2016 season for the middle distance runner.

In other events, the CSUEB 4x100 relay team of Jasmine Starks, Ravyn Miller, Sydney Johnson, and Imani Blincoe took ninth place with a time of 48.97. The 4x400 squad of Bateson, Blincoe, Starks, and Miller finished 10th in the prelim in 4:22.84.

Starks led the Pioneers in the 100 meters, placing 19th in the prelim with a time of 12.62. Johnson ran 12.79 to finish 22nd, and Blincoe ran 12.99 to take 26th. Starks also finished 19th in the 200, crossing the tape in 26.50. Blincoe was right behind her in 22nd with a time of 26.85, followed by Deja Croft in 24th place in 27.75.

Candace Compton represented East Bay with a solid performance in the 800 meters, taking 19th place in the prelim in 2:22.48.

Kelsey Lamb ran the 1500 in 5:16.46, good for 25th place in the prelim.

In the 5000 meters, a pair of seniors wrapped up impressive Pioneer career. Imani Heath finished 26th in the prelim with a time of 19:18.06, followed by Oddessy Tapia in 29th place in 19:26.02.
