HAYWARD, Calif. -- The series finale between Cal State East Bay and Cal State L.A., originally scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m., has been cancelled due to rain and poor field conditions. There will be no makeup date.
The Pioneers win the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series 2-0 following a sweep of Saturday's doubleheader at Pioneer Field. East Bay's offense broke out for 14 runs in support of
Alex Vesia to rout the Golden Eagles in the first game. The home team rallied back from a two-run deficit in game two and hung on for a 6-4 victory.Â
With the sweep, CSUEB notched its 20th victory of the season. The Pioneers are 20-13 overall with an even record of 11-11 in CCAA competition. They hit the road next week for a three-game series against Cal State San Bernardino, starting Saturday, Apr. 16.
