DAVIS, Calif.
-- The Cal State East Bay women's track and field team ran at the Aggie Open, host by UC Davis, on Saturday. The team turned in several good performance as they gear up for important late-season meets.

Freshman Imani Blincoe was impressive in three events for the Pioneers. She placed ninth in the 100 meters, beating runners from Stanislaus State and Sacramento State with a time of 12.77. She also ran the 200 meters, taking 16th place overall and second among East Bay entrants with a time of 27.12.

The Pioneers had several runners in both sprint events. Ravyn Miller was the team's second finisher in the 100, finishing 13th overall in 13.06. She paced the squad in the 200, edging out Blincoe by a hundredth of a second in 27.11 for 15th place.

Sophomore Deja Croft placed 18th in the 100 (13.66) and 20th in the 200 (29.20). Junior Donnisha Brown was just behind her in 19th place in the 100 with a time of 13.92. Sophomore Talia Cox was ahead of her in the 200, finishing in 17th place in 27.77.

The CSUEB distance runners all competed in the 3000 meters, taking on a field of mostly Division I athletes. Senior Oddessy Tapia led the way with a 12th place finish, crossing the tape is 10:38.90. Senior Imani Heath finished the 3k in 10:47.13, taking 17th place. She was followed by junior Sarah Perrin in 20th (11:08.50), junior Vanessa Mares in 23rd (11:48.99), and sophomore Taryn Stevenson in 25th (12:11.03).

The Pioneers also entered teams in both relays. The 4x100 squad of Blincoe, Brown, Cox, and Croft placed third behind UC Davis and Nevada with a time of 50.98. The 4x400 team of Kandace Compton, Kelsey Lamb, Miller, and Suzanne Bateson finished second to Sacramento State in 4:14.29.

"We had some season best times from Imani Blincoe today," noted head coach Tony Nicolosi. "There were also good bounce-back performances by Sarah and Imani Heath. I think they are both looking good and improving."

After making it through the upcoming finals week, East Bay will be back up in the Davis area again next week for Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational.
