MESA, Ariz. -- The Cal State East Bay women's track and field team competed in sprint and distance events this weekend at both the Sun Angel Classic, hosted by Arizona State, and the Mesa Classic, hosted by Mesa Community College.
At Arizona State, four women raced against top Division I competition in the 1500 meters.
Oddessy Tapia posted the low time, crossing the finish line in 4:50.73 to take eighth place overall in the race.
Imani Heath clocked in at 4:54.83, and
Camille Hansen was right behind her with a time of 4:55.62.
Sarah Perrin ran the 1500m in 4:57.74 to close out CSUEB's day at one of the most prestigious events on the West coast.
Those same four athletes competed in the distance races at the Mesa Classic on Saturday as well. Heath performed well in the 1500 meters, finishing in fourth place with a time of 4:56.02.
The other three ran the 800 meters, with Hansen posting the top time of 2:18.97 to place fifth. Tapia clocked in at 2:21.62, and Perrin circled the track twice in 2:24.09.
Kiera Bethley and
Donnisha Brown traveled to Arizona to run the sprints for the Pioneers. In the 100 meters, Bethley ran a time of 13.08 seconds, and Brown was close behind in 13.29.
In the 200 meters, Bethley once again edged out her teammate. She clocked in at 27.02, while Brown crossed the finish line in 27.88.
Next week, the Pioneer women will be back in action when they host the
CSUEB Legacy Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 18 at Chabot College.
