HAYWARD, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay volleyball team continues its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) schedule this weekend by welcoming in a pair of southern California team into Pioneer Gym. The Pioneers (7-14, 4-12 CCAA) host Cal State L.A. on Friday night and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday night. Both matches are set for 7 p.m., and Saturday will feature a live video broadcast at PioneerWebTV.com.

TUESDAY RECAP
After sweeping two matches at home last weekend, East Bay lost a five-set heartbreaker on Tuesday to Cal State Monterey Bay. The Pioneers hit .245 as a team and grabbed a 2-1 lead in the match, but the Otters rallied to win the final two sets. Freshman Kiani Rayford notched a career high with 14 kills and a .464 hitting percentage for the home team.

PIONEER POINTS
Amber Hall led the team with 15 kills on Tuesday and currently ranks fifth in the CCAA in scoring, averging 3.43 kills per set.

Samantha Bruno is also in the top-20 overall at 2.68 kills per set. She's already Cal State East Bay's all-time leader in total blocks with 252 for her career, and last weekend she moved into 10th place all-time in career kills with 676. 

Libero Angie Maina now leads the team in digs for the season (222) after topping 20 in four straight matches. The junior ranks eighth in the CCAA with 4.16 digs/set in league play.

Ashia Joseph ranks in the top-10 in the CCAA in both assists (8.25 per set) and service aces (0.35 per set). She's also second on the Pioneers with 178 digs this season. Joseph has totaled 1,655 assists for her Pioneer career, which ranks seventh in program history. She needs 144 more this season to move into sixth place.

SCOUTING CSULA
The fourth-place Golden Eagles snapped a four-match losing streak by beating Cal Poly Pomona and UC San Diego last weekend. They rank third in the conference with a .251 team attack percentage, and are led by Iona Lofrano (4.14 kills/set, 2.69 digs/set), Loreal Carter (2.74 kills/set, .298 pct.), and Kymberly Silveyra (2.64 kills/set, 2.87 digs/set). The Pioneers are 2-7 against CSULA since joining the CCAA in 2010.

TRACKING THE TOROS
Cal Stae Dominguez Hills has lost six straight since picking up their only CCAA win over Stanislaus. They rank last in the league in kills, digs, and hitting percentage (.105). Outside hitter Alijah Gunsaulus (3.37 kills/set, .242 pct.) is the only Toros averaging more than two kills a set. Cal State East Bay is 7-2 against Dominguez Hills since 2010, with the Pioneers rallying to defeat the Toros in four sets earlier this year.
