OAKLAND, Calif. – Cal State East Bay finished well ahead of the 6-team field on Saturday afternoon to win the Bay Area Invitational at the Trefethen Aquatic Center. The Pioneers won for the third straight year led by multiple individual events winners
Madison Hauanio and
Hannah Cutts.
"Hannah continues to swim very aggressively. Her 1,650 (yard freestyle) and 500 (yard freestyle) races were not only both dominant swims, but very good early-season times for her as well," praised East Bay Head Coach
Ben Loorz.
Hauanio won the 100 butterfly and 200 backstroke. She was two-hundredths of a second behind teammate
Alyssa Tenney in the 100 back from going 3-for-3.
"Our backstroking in general was exceptional. It was great to see Alyssa and Madison going 1-2 in the 100, and then Madison and
Mariam Lowe going 1-2 in the 200," complimented Loorz.

"This is the first time Alyssa has ever earned the blue ribbon at a large competition. It feels great to see her hard work paying off," added Loorz.
