HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay women's swimming will host its final meet of the 2013-14 regular season on Friday, Jan. 24, versus Nevada. Seniors
Rachel Knowles and
Caitlin DeNise will be swimming in their final competition at Pioneer Pool.
Knowles, a fourth year Pioneer out of Corona, Calif. is the lone swimmer on this year's roster to have competed for Cal State East Bay all four years of her collegiate career. Knowles and Head Coach
Ben Loorz joined the Pioneer program during the 2010-11 season and have been a part of reviving the program to the national prominence it holds today.
"Rachel has been at the forefront of the East Bay program leading the way both athletically and academically," praised Loorz. "She is an extremely hard worker. Rachel has transformed as an individual and is a signature member of the Pioneer program."
DeNise, a two-year East Bay swimmer from Davis, was able to enjoy swimming after transferring from a Division I school. She is a Division II All-American and has played a major role in the Pioneers progression as a program.
"Caitlin is respected by her teammates for her ability to lead, as well as her performances in the water. She has helped carry East Bay into a new era of achievement," said Loorz.
Nevada has competed against Fresno State, a common opponent of East Bay's earlier this season. The Wolfpack defeated the Bulldogs 174-119 while the Pioneers fell to FSU 119-84. Nevada will face San Jose State the following afternoon following its dual with Cal State East Bay.
This will be the final tune up meet for the Pacific Coast Swim Conference (PCSC) Championships which are set to begin on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in La Mirada.
