SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – A ninth inning rally fell short as the Pioneer baseball team dropped their season finale to San Francisco State, 4-2, on May 6.
The Pioneers conclude the 2012 campaign with an 18-30 record. East Bay compiled a 12-26 record to finish 10th in the CCAA. San Francisco State finishes 17-32 for the season and 14-26 in CCAA play.
Andrew Woolfe opened the top of the ninth with his fifth home run of the season as the Pioneers cut the Gators lead to 4-2.
Jordan Wilder followed with a walk. With one out,
Jake Davis singled, to put runners at first and second.
Gator hurler Branden Petrangelo (6-5) proceeded to retire the next two Pioneer hitters to preserve the victory.
East Bay pushed across an unearned run in the top of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Miguel Flores two-run double highlighted a three-run, third inning as the Gators took a 3-1 advantage.
The Gators increased their lead to 4-1 with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
The Pioneers stranded runners at first and second in the top of the eighth inning.

David Castillo each had a pair of hits for the Pioneers. Pitcher
Bryce Miller allowed four runs on seven hits and six strikeouts. Reliever
Zachary Wong hurled two scoreless innings.
