HAYWARD, Calif. – The Pioneer baseball team, coming off a 3-1 series victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson over the weekend, will continue its Southern California trip on April 13-16. East Bay will play a four-game series at Cal State San Bernardino on April 13-15.  The four-game series will begin on April 13 with a single contest beginning at 3:00 p.m.  An 11:00 a.m. doubleheader will be played on April 14.  The four-game series will conclude on April 15 with a single contest beginning at 11:00 a.m. East Bay will play a makeup doubleheader at Cal State Los Angeles on April 16. The first pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.                                                           

Cal State East Bay baseball fans can follow the Pioneers on April 15 versus Cal State San Bernardino in a single game, and April 16 when the team visits Cal State Los Angeles for a doubleheader.  All three games will be broadcast on the Pioneers Internet Network.

The Pioneers stand in 10th place in the CCAA with an 8-16 record. East Bay is 14-20 for the season. The Pioneers have won five of their last seven games including two recent CCAA road doubleheader sweeps.

Andrew Woolfe is 26thth overall among all CCAA hitters with a .322 batting average. In his last four games, Woolfe is hitting .417 with six runs scored and four RBI. Besides a team-leading .322 batting average, Woolfe leads the Pioneers in four other offensive categories including runs scored (27), hits (35), home runs (4) and slugging percentage (.496).  Eddie Rettagliata  is 27th overall in the CCAA hitting .318.  Jordan Wilder, hitting .467 in his last four games with six RBI, is batting .294 with a team-leading 24 RBI. Kyle Zozaya continues to have a solid season for the Pioneers. Zozaya is batting .288 with 11 runs scored and 16 runs driven in. David Castillo has a .282 batting average. In his last five games, Castillo is hitting .444 with three runs scored and five RBI. Lead-off hitter Brett Hall has a .271 batting average with 21 runs scored and eight doubles.                                                                                                                                                                    

AJ Gallardo, with a 5-0 record, leads all CCAA hurlers with a 1.65 ERA. In 43.2 innings of work, Gallardo has 30 strikeouts and 11 walks.  In CCAA games only, Gallardo has a conference best 1.64 ERA.  Bryce Miller is second overall among CCAA pitchers with 56 strikeouts. Miller has 51 strikeouts in his last seven starts. Ben O'Bryan is 2-2 with a fourth-best 1.95 ERA among all CCAA hurlers.

Cal State San Bernardino, which lost three out of four games to the Pioneers last season, is third in the CCAA with a 14-10 record. The Coyotes are 17-12 overall.  Pitcher Mike Murdon is 4-0 and boasts an excellent 1.82 ERA, third best overall among CCAA hurlers. Darren Dworak is the 13th leading hitter overall in the CCAA with a .349 batting average.                                                                                                     

Cal State Los Angeles, with an 11-13 record, is seventh in the CCAA. The Golden Eagles are 15-15 for the season. Cal State Los Angeles swept the Pioneers in a four-game series in 2011. Daniel Duran is the overall leading hitter in the CCAA with a .473 batting average. In CCAA games only, Duran leads the conference with a .494 batting average and a .809 slugging percentage. 

Following the six games in Southern California, the Pioneers will have a bye and return to action on April 27 to host Cal Poly Pomona in the first of a four-game series.
