HAYWARD, Calif. – The Pioneer baseball team will play Cal State Monterey Bay in a four-game series on March 30-April 1. The four-game series with Cal State Monterey Bay will begin on March 30 with a 3:00 p.m. single contest at Pioneer Field. A doubleheader will be played on March 31 in Seaside. The first pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. The four-game series will conclude on April 1 with a single contest at Pioneer Field beginning at 11:00 a.m. Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay split a four-game series last season.                                                 

Cal State East Bay stands in 11th place in the CCAA with a 3-13 record. The Pioneers are 9-17 for the season.  Cal State East Bay has been involved in 13 one-run games, posting a 5-8 record. The Pioneers have lost their last five games.

Andrew Woolfe is 30th overall among all CCAA hitters with a .319 batting average. Woolfe leads the Pioneers in four offensive categories including runs scored (19), hits (29), doubles (8), home runs (3) and slugging percentage (.505).  Eddie Rettagliata  is 34th overall in the CCAA with a .302 batting average.  . Jordan Wilder is hitting .277 for the season with a team-best 17 RBI.  Lead- off hitter Brett Hall has a .276 batting average with 15 runs scored and seven doubles.                                                                                     

The Pioneer pitching staff ranks among the top four CCAA teams in strikeouts (1st-186), complete games (2nd-3), earned run average (4th-3.78) and home runs allowed (4th-9).

AJ Gallardo, with a 3-0 record, is second among all CCAA hurlers with a 0.85 ERA. In 31.2 innings of work, Gallardo has 23 strikeouts and four walks.  Ben O'Bryan is 1-2 with a 0.73 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 14.2 innings of work.  Bryce Miller is fourth among CCAA pitchers with 42 strikeouts. Miller has 37 strikeouts in his last five starts.

Cal State Monterey Bay is ninth in the CCAA with an 8-12 record. The Otters are 15-15 overall. Cal State Monterey Bay is currently on a six-game losing streak. The Otter pitching staff tops the CCAA with a 3.35 ERA. Jeff Owen is 11th in the CCAA with a 2.72 ERA. Aaron Appino and Donny Medlinger have each won four games this season.  Brian Haggert is the eighth leading hitter in the CCAA with a .357 batting average.  

Following the Cal State Monterey Bay series, the Pioneers will play at Cal State Dominguez  Hills in a four-game series on April 5-7.
