HAYWARD, Calif. - Following a record breaking season, the Pioneer women's swimming team was named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Division II Scholar All America Team, announced on February 22.
The Team Scholar All American award was presented to 42 college and university swimming and diving teams, who achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring).
As a team, the Pioneers accumulated a 3.27 grade point average, matching Grand Canyon University. Cal State East Bay and Grand Canyon University topped all Division II institutions in grade point average west of South Dakota.
The Pioneers broke 14 school records and had 11 NCAA “B” cuts en route to a school record fifth place finish at the 2011-12 Pacific Collegiate Women's Swimming Conference Championships.
A total of 15 school records were broken by the Pioneers during the 2011-12 campaign.
