FRESNO, Calif. – The Pioneer women's swimming team had a good outing in a Division I meet hosted by Fresno State on January 14. The meet included San Diego State, Cal State Bakersfield and host Fresno State.
Jenel Lopez recorded a third place finish in the 100 Yard Free (53.53). Lopez finished ninth in the 100 Yard Breastroke with a time of 1:12.04.
Alyssa Tenney nearly equal her season best posting a time of 1:00.47 to take sixth place in the 100 Yard Backstroke. Tenney knocked three seconds off her season best of 1:01.04 to place ninth in the 100 Yard Butterfly.

Ben Loorz said. "Alyssa performed well in the meet and we had other swimmers post season and career bests today.”
Sara Bonino was seventh in the 500 Yard Free with a season best time of 5:19.79. Bonino posted her second fastest time of the season of 1:59.41 to earn 10th place honors in the 200 Yard Free.
Rachel Knowles placed seventh in the 200 Yard Breastroke in 2:33.48 while
Bethany Hoopman had a good meet with a seventh place showing in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:00.47) and an eighth place performance in the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:14.10).
Madelyn Mooers bettered her season best by two seconds as she recorded a time of 2:22.76 to take fifth place in the 200 IM. Mooers clocked a time of 1:02.89 to finish 12th in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
Stephanie Lau finished 11th in the 100 Yard Breastroke (1:14.88) and 12th in the 100 Yard Free (1:03.03).
Jasmine Stowers had a pair of 10th place finishes in the 50 Yard Free (26.99) and the 200 Yard Breastroke (2:46.56).
Jenni Perez took 12th in the 50 Yard Free (27.65-season best) and 200 Yard Free (2:05.32).
Senior
Christine Gee was ninth in the 200 Yard Back (2:22.97) and placed 10th in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a season best time of 1:07.03. Gee recorded a season best time of 1:07.47 to take 14th in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
The foursome of Tenney, Bonino, Knowles and Lopez recorded an excellent time of 3:43.76 to take fourth place honors in the 400 Yard Free Relay.
Hoopman, Knowles, Tenney and Lopez finished fifth with a time of 1:53.21 in the 200 Yard Medley Relay.
“Competing in back-to-back meets will prepare us for the conference championships,” Loorz said. “We competed against solid Division I swimmers the past two days. This is the kind of competition we will face in the conference meet.”
The Pioneers will return home on January 20 to face Fresno Pacific in a dual meet.
