Pioneers Cap 2010 Campaign with Senior Day Victory

East Bay complete four-game sweep of Cal State LA

HAYWARD, Calif. - Pioneer senior Aaron Hannigan tossed a complete game while Nick McManus hit a two-run home run and drove in three runs as Cal State East Bay completed a four-game sweep with a 6-4 victory over Cal State Los Angeles on May 2.

Hannigan, who finished 6-3 for the season, gave up four runs on nine hits. He had five strikeouts. McManus hit a two-run home run in the first to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead.

East Bay increased its lead to 4-0 in the second as James McShane homered and McManus had a run scoring single.

The Golden Eagles scored twice in the fourth inning to cut the Pioneers lead to 4-2.  Jimmy Ly singled home Jake Walter in the bottom of the fourth giving the Pioneers a 5-2 advantage.

In the top of the fifth inning, Jesus Campos drove in two runs with a double cutting the Pioneers lead to 5-4.

East Bay scored an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh on Devin Grigg's fifth home run of the season.

Ly, McManus, and Grigg each had two hits. As a team the Pioneers had nine hits and finished the season with a .307 batting average.

The Pioneers hit three more home runs giving them 46 for the season.

Cal State East Bay completed the 2010 campaign with a record of 23-29-1. The Pioneers were 16-24 in CCAA play.
