Men's soccer midfielder Chris Gaitan has been named Cal State East Bay's Male Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Doubletree Hilton Pleasanton at the Club, for Sept. 14-20.
Despite a pair of tough conference losses last week, Gaitan had two strong performances, assisting on both of the team's goals. The senior helped set up goals by Jeremy Romero against Cal State Monterey Bay and Victor Calderon against San Francisco State.
For the season, Gaitan leads the squad with three assists, and he's tied for the team lead in points. He has been incresingly impressive on the right wing, helping the Pioneers create numerous scoring chances and a total of 41 shots taken in the two matches last week.
