Senior Angie Maina has been selected as Cal State East Bay's Co-Female Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Doubletree Hilton Pleasanton at the Club, for Sept. 7-13. She put up huge numbers for the Pioneer volleyball team during their four matches last week at Cal State San Bernardino's Coyote Classic.
East Bay's libero totaled 26 digs in a five-set loss to Concordia Irvine to open the tournament. She closed out the weekend with 25 digs in a four-set loss to New Mexico Highlands, followed by 26 digs in an impressive four-set win over Fort Lewis.
For the weekend, Maina averaged 5.12 digs per set. She was also a force at the service line, posting 11 aces in the four matches. For her efforts, Maina was named to the Coyote Classic All-Tournament Team.
Through nine matches of the 2015 season, Maina leads the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in aces (0.59 per set) and ranks third in digs (4.94 per set).
