Golfer Connor Lawrence has been named Cal State East Bay's Male Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Doubletree Hilton Pleasanton at the Club, for Sept. 21-27.
Lawrence turned in three stellar rounds to lead Pioneers last week at the NCAA Championship Preview tournament in Denver, Colo. He shot 68 (-4), 74 (+2), and 70 (-2) at the par-72 Green Valley Ranch Golf Club, finishing with a four-under-par total of 212.
Competing in his first tournament at East Bay against many of the top Division II golfers in the nation, the San Jose native finished in a tie for ninth place individually. He tallied 14 birdies for the week, fifth-most of any golfer in a field that included several former All-Americans.Â
