Sophomore distance runner Camille Hansen has been named Cal State East Bay's Female Athlete of the Week, sponsored by the DoubleTree by Hilton Pleasanton at the Club, for Mar. 30-Apr. 5.

Hansen shattered her personal-best time in the 1500 meters last Friday while competeing for the Pioneer women's track and field team at the SF State Distance Carnival. She crossed the finish line in 4:43.49, taking more than six seconds off her previous personal record in the event.

The product of Hayward High School finished 38th in a loaded field of runners and ninth among Division II athletes. Hansen paced a Pioneer squad that turned in several strong performances as it gears up for the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) championships, which take place the first weekend in May at SF State's Cox Stadium, the same venue that hosted the Distance Carnival.
