Sophomore Adam Stone has been named CSUEB's Male Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Doubletree Hilton Pleasanton at the Club, for Mar. 16-24. He was crowned co-champion of the 2015 SoCal Intercollegiate this week, hosted by UC San Diego at Carlton Oaks Golf Club in Santee, Calif.
The left-hander turned in scores of 71 (-1) and 75 (+3) before shooting even-par 72 in Tuesday's final round to finish at 218 (+2) for the tournament. Stone ended up in a tie with Dalen Yamauchi of Hawaii-Hilo for individual medalist honors. He led the overall field with 42 total pars.Â
The Lancaster, England native paced the Pioneers to a third-place finish in the team standings at 908 (+44), competing against CCAA squads Cal State Monterey Bay (+24), Cal State Stanislaus (+57), Cal State Dominguez Hills (+59), and UC San Diego (+68). Stone finished as the top CCAA golfer in the tournament. This marks his second championship of the 2014-15 season, as he previously claimed individual medalist honors at the Chico State Wildcat Classic in October.
