Junior Linda Brown played a remarkable bogey-free round of 70 (-2) to run away with the individual championship at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout by eight strokes over the next closest golfer. Brown led the East Bay squad to its second straight team title at its home event. She finished with a two round total of 146 (+2) and was the only player in the field of 63 to shoot a round under par. The San Leandro native led the field in total pars (26) and par-three scoring (-1), playing nearly mistake-free golf. It’s the second consecutive tournament victory for Brown, who was also crowned champion of the Saint Edward's Invitational in Austin, Texas, earlier in the week. She carded a 147 (+5) overall to win the event by three strokes.
